Installment #4- Jackson Update

And of course a Jackson update! I can't believe it but he turned 18 months last week! He is officially nursery age, though he has been going for weeks now and loves it. I didn't think it would ever happen with this little guy, but he is actually starting to get shy. He won't sing the songs or do the actions to them in nursery, even though he does them all of the time at home! (His favorites are the wheels on the bus and popcorn popping.) He also isn't quite as friendly and talkative with strangers, but I think I'm okay with that. I just wish this newfound shyness didn't make him quite so clingy to mom! I hope this little phase is over before the baby comes.

Jackson is 80% for height (28lbs 8oz) and 75% for weight (33 3/4in). He loves to climb and makes us very nervous! He recently learned to climb out of his crib so we are thinking about trying out a big boy bed sooner than planned.

He is so smart! His vocabulary grows constantly and he even strings words together now. My favorite things to hear him say are police car, ambulance, belly button, and love you mom:) He repeats anything we say, so we've started having him say his own prayers at bedtime, which is adorable! Jackson can count to four, knows basic shapes, the colors blue, green, yellow, purple, red, and pink (usually anyways), and has even learned a few letters now (s, f, w, d, i, m, o, h- random, I know, but those just happen to be the ones he remembers). He knows all of the animal sounds I can make so now I am trying to get him to say the names of all the animals rather than just make their noises. He loves animals! We have a bunny that lives in our backyard that we love to go watch, and an owl that we always listen to and imitate but have yet to see. We also like to put water and bread out on our back porch so that we can watch all the birds and squirrels while we are eating lunch.

Jackson has also been using the potty for the last month or so! No, he is not potty trained or even close to it (I wish), but he does like to use his potty and will almost always push at least something out so that he can get a little treat:) Once he started telling us when he had to poop we figured we might as well buy a potty and slowly get him use to it. He is doing pretty well, sometimes he tells us when he has to go and asks to use the potty. That being said, he still goes in his diaper all day long so I don't anticipate him getting trained in the near future, especially since we've been told that having the baby would probably just make him regress anyways. So we aren't pushing it, just letting him use it once or twice a day in the hope that it will make it easier down the road!
Jordan update: Jord just finished another semester of school and did great as always! Only one more year to go! As I've mentioned, this past semester was not nearly as busy and we had lots of fun family time. Sadly, I think that is coming to an end. His new semester has lots of assignments including a huge research project, and he started clinical at a new hospital that makes his schedule crazy! To top it off, the poor guy has mono:( After 5 or 6 blood tests, a few doctors visits, and a consultation with a disease specialist, we were glad to finally find out it was only mono! Our doctor was just being extra cautious because Jordan had extremely elevated liver enzymes which can happen with mono, but is more rare. He was afraid Jordan had picked up something scary at clinical, but thankfully that was not the case and Jordan is already feeling better! (Is it just me or has our little family had a rough year in the health department!)

Ashley & baby update: Exactly 26 weeks along and feeling pretty good! The second time around is taking more of a toll on my body and I'm pretty tired, but that's expected I guess. I get to go in for a second ultrasound in a few weeks just to make sure he is still growing well since he only has a 2 vessel umbilical cord instead of the typical 3 vessels. The doctors aren't worried though and neither am I. According to my belly measurements we are exactly on track:)
