Jackson

Jackson is growing up so fast! He thinks he is such a big boy, and loves being independent. It's so fun to watch him do so many things all by himself. He is even potty trained! Well, for the most part anyways, we still have an occasional accident but they are becoming fewer and far between. I think he had been ready for awhile, but I just didn't want to block out the time to stay home and do it. So after some strong encouragement from Jordan and catching myself telling Jackson just to pee in his diaper too many times, we finally threw out the diapers and went for it. I am so proud of my little guy!

I love how active his imagination is these days too, his pretend play makes me laugh all the time. I'm always so surprised by the things he thinks up to pretend, really, his creativity far outweighs mine! He also says the funniest things. I need to write them down, because I always forget, but he makes me laugh all of the time. Here are a couple things from this week that I can remember-

So I'm upstairs with Tyler and I hear Jackson calling me because he is stuck in his dump truck that he likes to climb into. I couldn't get to him right away, so when I do he says quite emphatically, "Mom, I was stuck in there for THREE WHOLE DAYS!" (I think this exaggeration stemmed from the Jonah & the whale story, his new favorite bedtime story that we tell EVERY night.)

Last Sunday at church Jackson saw his little friend, Hayden, across the room. So of course, in the middle of the sacrament, he stands up and says loudly, "Hey, there's Hayden!" To which Hayden replies, "Hi Jackson!" So Jackson says, "Hi Hayden!" At this point Jordan is trying to tell Jackson that he needs to be reverent but he quite loudly says, "But dad, I'm talking!". It was kind of embarrassing, but pretty funny too:)

After the time change we had a hard time getting Jackson to go to bed. He kept coming out of his room, so one night I decided to just try ignoring him and not acknowledge that he was peeking out at us through the railing. Well, eventually he started talking to me and kept asking me to come upstairs, but I told him no, get back in bed. So what does he say? "Mom, your being disobedient, you need to listen to me." Ha! Can you tell what we are working on during this lovely terrible two stage? This is the area where I'm not too fond of his newfound independence.

Christmas has already been so much fun with Jackson. Whenever we go anywhere Jackson is on the hunt for Christmas decorations and points them all out. The best part is that he calls wreaths life buoys because that's what they look like to him:) I also love when he talks about Rudolph because he says it so funny that probably only Jordan and I would understand him. I can't even repeat it the same way, but it sounds like "Brudolph".

Jackson is such a little smarty too, I'm so impressed with his memory and how quickly he learns. I always get excited and tell him things like "good job Jackson, your awesome, your so smart!" or something like that, so whenever I do things that I am teaching him he gets excited and tells me the same things:) It's too cute!

Jackson can definitely be stubborn and sure knows how to throw a fit, but he is also such a sweet and fun little boy! He is also such a good big brother too, I love watching him interact with Tyler. We love you so much little man!

What a funny little guy! Haha it's so funny when kids do stuff like that in church. Just a while ago, a little one loudly said to his mom during Sunday School, "I just want to go home..."
